Every Child Deserves A Healthy Grin

At Saginaw Kids Dentistry, we welcome children and teens of all ages and abilities to experience the benefits of a true dental home. Dr. Elias and Dr. Christina are both board-certified pediatric dentists with over 17 years of combined experience. They’re experts at making kids feel at ease when they’re at the dentist, treating them like they would their own family members, and paying special attention to their unique needs.

No two children are the same, so dentistry shouldn’t be a one-size-fits-all operation. At our Saginaw office, we’re dedicated to giving every patient the opportunity at good oral health they deserve, regardless of their needs.

We know that some children are especially afraid of the dentist’s or doctor’s office, or any place that is unfamiliar, so we have designed our office to be as welcoming as possible. We make it our mission to work with you to gain a thorough understanding of your child’s needs, and do everything we can to make them as comfortable and relaxed as can be during their visit.

A Life Dedicated To Helping Kids Smile

More than just business partners, the husband and wife team of Dr. Elias and Dr. Christina started their practice with one primary goal in mind: to treat patients as if they were their own children. They live by this philosophy, and strive to create an environment where every patient feels welcome and relaxed, or maybe even excited to visit the dentist! Between them, they speak 4 languages, so if you or your child speak a English, Vietnamese, Arabic, or Spanish, we can help you feel right at home.

Another thing you can count on is that they’ll never push unnecessary treatment, focusing instead on providing quality preventive care and helping their patients create good oral hygiene habits that will last a lifetime.

What To Expect At Your Child’s First Appointment

When your child walks through our doors, they’ll be met with a bright, inviting office designed with their needs in mind. We provide you access to all of your child’s new patient forms online to minimize time in the waiting room, so before long your child will be heading back to the operatory. (We welcome all parents to accompany their child and to sit in on the visit if they would like to!) Feel free to call ahead at (682) 285-1900 and share with us what makes your little one unique, so we can make preparations to make them feel as comfortable as we can during their visit.

Dr. Elias or Dr. Christina will perform a comprehensive exam of your child’s oral health, and explain their findings to your child in a way that is easy to understand, and that makes going to the dentist fun! If they uncover any problems or areas of concern, they’ll speak with you and provide guidance and their recommendation about further treatment.

PREVENTIVE CARE

Six-Month Teeth Cleanings

Regular six- month preventive care visits, including exams and cleanings, are essential for protecting your child's oral health as they grow. During their cleanings and oral exams, we’ll check for signs of common oral health problems like cavities.

At-Home Oral Hygiene

Once your child has teeth, you should brush them twice a day using a smear of fluoride toothpaste about the size of a grain of rice. Once your child is 3 years old or can spit upon request, you can use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. You will usually need to brush your child’s teeth until they’re about 6 or 7 years old. Then, they can start brushing on their own.

Frenectomies

Frenectomies are used to treat tongue and lip ties. Tongue and lip ties restrict the movement of your child’s tongue and/or lips, and can interfere with your child’s feeding and development.

Recognizing Tongue & Lip Ties

Parents may notice children having difficulties breastfeeding or bottle feeding. Tongue and lip ties may result in poor weight gain. It can be indicated by colic (crying) when feeding, or excessive drooling when feeding.

Frenectomies

During a frenectomy, Dr. Elias or Dr. Christina will release the thick band of tissue restricting the lips or tongue using a gentle laser tool, freeing up the lips or tongue and restoring oral range of motion.

Treatment Benefits

Treating tongue or lip ties with a frenectomy ensures your child can feed properly and gain weight. It also may help prevent speech difficulties in the future.

Silver Diamine Fluoride

Silver Diamine Fluoride

SDF (Silver Diamine Fluoride) is a non-invasive treatment used as an alternative to fillings. In this treatment, a mixture of silver, ammonia, fluoride, and water is applied to a decayed tooth. SDF hardens the tooth and kills the decay. This stains the tooth, but protects it from further damage. This is ideal for baby teeth, since they will fall out and be replaced by adult teeth in the future.

The Benefits Of A Dental Home

Making Saginaw Kids Dentistry your child’s dental home ensures they will become more familiar with the dental process, develop a healthy attitude toward dentistry, and create life-long relationships with our team. We’ll also be able to keep a close eye on their oral health and development, which ensures their smile stays strong as they grow.
